Thinking about taking a trip to Puerto Vallarta? Here are some of my experience that may help you plan your next trip.
I have been to Puerto Vallarta twice and was able to enjoy what PV has to offer. Not all, but enough to share with you. If you're planning and would like some information, hopefully I can be helpful to you.
The first time, I went to PV it was at the end of March. The weather was nice, in the 80s, no rain, but humid. The second time was in mid-July, during the rainy season. The weather was in the 90s with humidity and partly raining during the day.
For transportation to get around PV, Uber was easy to use and the price was in dollars, so I knew ahead of time how much I was getting charged. Most of the Uber drivers kept their car well cleaned compared to the taxi drivers. If you don't have the Uber app, taxis are available almost at every corner.
Also note, that PV no longer offers plastic straws. In some restaurants there are either paper straws or none at all.
Where to stay:
Keep in mind the resorts I've stayed at are about 3-5 miles to downtown.

My first trip to PV, I've stayed at the Garza Blanca Preserve Resort and Spa. It’s a beautiful resort for a romantic getaway. Or if you feel like treating yourself to a luxury place. The tub in the restroom is amazing, with the window looking out to the balcony, made me unwind and left everything else behind. The balcony has a hammock, I was able to relaxed in and enjoy the sound of the ocean waves every night. The resort also offers two great restaurants, free breakfast, pools, a bar, friendly staffs, and so much more. It is definitely my favorite hotel. Wished I would have spent more time just enjoying the place. If you would like more information regarding the resort, here is the link below.

On my second trip, was with families and we stayed at the Grand Miramar All Luxury Suites and Residences, which offers large suites. Great for families or group of 5-6 people. The room were large with two separate bedrooms and its own restroom. It came with a kitchenette, dining table, and living room. It was definitely bigger than any apartments I've lived in. The resort offers 3 restaurants, bars, free breakfast, friendly staffs, and so much more. The only downfall was waiting in line for breakfast every morning. So if you're in a rush or have plans to be somewhere, make sure to have breakfast early. My favorite area in the resort was the adult pool. Everything was blue, quiet, and relaxing. The complimentary bite size dark chocolate (my favorite) and water bottle left in the room daily was a plus! Here is the link below for more information.
If you wish to stay closer to downtown, there are plenty of hotels nearby. Make sure to do your research and find what will work best for you.
Things to do:
Downtown PV (Malecon) is a must see. The 12 block downtown strip is full of attractions and sculptures with the beautiful view of the ocean. I was able to enjoy some souvenir shopping, restaurants, bars, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, the pier, and Los Muertos beach.

During the evening, the strip is much more crowded with locals and tourists. Great for a romantic walk or with love ones. The four arch has free live music and artist performing.

In the evening, I enjoyed eating at La Palapa restaurant on Los Muertos beach, with the view of the ocean and the pier. The pier is lit up beautifully with translucent colors. This is where the water taxis are located right below, which can take you to Yalapa or Las Animas. I haven't been to neither of those beaches, but hopefully in the future. I also took a nice walk right on the pier for a closer look at the colorful lights.

Went back to the beach on a different night to have dinner at Cuates y Cuetes restaurant, which has a closer view of the pier. I had the delicious and fresh fish tacos with guacamole. The pieces were big and fried in a nice crispy batter. Yum!
During the day, I enjoyed my time at Los Muertos beach. It is different from any other beaches I’ve ever been, comparing it to the US. It’s crowded, not as clean, and vendors bugging me every 2-3 minutes. But I just looked passed all that and still had a good time. I relaxed in a rental lounge chair, under an umbrella, from one of beach bar for a minimum of food and drinks purchased. It was convenience and worried free, I just had to be there to enjoy the moment and soak up the sun. Dipped in the warm ocean, had mango and shrimps on a stick from the vendors as well. There's nothing like being catered to.

How about surfing? Sayulita is a great place for beginner. Lunazul Surf School and Shop has knowledgeable staffs and offers lessons. The small town is in Nayarit and about 1 to 1.5 hours away. The beach seem to be much more crowded and has the same kind of feel like Los Muetos Beach, besides the surfing.

Looking for something to keep your heart pumping? Believe it or not, I'm more of an adrenaline junkie. I wanted to do an all day trip full of adventures with different activities. Thanks to Vallarta Adventures for offering different packages to choose from. I was able to ride a mule, zip through different lines, rappel beside an amazing waterfall, and slide down a water slide all in the jungle. A light lunch/snack with water was provided at the end of the trip. It was everything I was looking for in an adventure with breathtaking views. For more information, check the link below.

Another adventure I booked through Vallarta Adventures was Rhythms of The Night, a dinner and show. I enjoyed the sunset cruise on a ferry boat ride with friendly and entertaining staffs. Had a nice dinner on the beach and then after followed hundreds of candle lights that led to the show. The show was spectacular, with acrobatics, dancers, fire jugglers, and beautiful plays. My only complaint was the seats for the show, it was uncomfortable. They were thin long benches in rows with no back support. Other than that, I enjoyed everything else.
Puerto Vallarta is filled with many things to do and see for everyone. Hope you found some information useful or entertaining.
