After coming back from my Thailand trip, one week before Thanksgiving. I was feeling a little under the weather and jet lag. I did not have the motivation to get ready for Thanksgiving and on top of that, I never liked the smell of raw turkey. Something about the smell grosses me out and if I smell it long enough, I won't eat it after it's cooked. Thank goodness my sister and her in-laws had always prepared more than one turkey and I just bring the sides.

Since I was not able to get the time off the day before and after Thanksgiving in advance. Traveling to my family's home would be difficult, due to me working the day after.

I decided to do something a little different this year. Something that would be stress-free and good enough to serve. I had contacted my nearest restaurant, Mimi's Café and placed an order for their Thanksgiving Take Home Feast. There are lots of grocery and restaurants that offers a Thanksgiving meal, which you can purchase everything or just the sides.

I have no idea if it's going to be good or not, but it's the whole Thanksgiving feast for a total of $115. What's not to love about that? And I don't have to be in the kitchen all day or prepare a raw turkey. It comes with a turkey (not fully cooked), mashed potatoes, gravy, pecan mashed sweet potatoes, cranberry orange sauce, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, pumpkin and pecan pies, which feeds up to 10 people. The instruction sheet comes with both microwave and oven directions that was easy to follow. I had used the oven instructions instead.

I placed the turkey on a roasting rack and rubbed the butter (which is included) all over the top of the turkey. Then placed it in the oven for one hour and 45 minutes under 325 degrees. The last 45 minutes before the turkey was done, I placed the mashed potatoes and stuffing in the oven on the rack below. After the 45 minutes, I took everything out of the oven and placed the green bean casserole and sweet potatoes in the oven following the instruction sheet. To make sure the turkey was cooked, I used the meat thermometer to check for the right temperatures. As for the gravy, I just put it in a small crock pot to keep warm (forgot to take a picture).

Everything was delicious and well worth it. I couldn’t be more happier.

There you have it, an easy stress-free Thanksgiving feast. Now you can, sit down, relax, and enjoy your Thanksgiving with friends and family.

When you think of fall, what do you think of? As for me, I think of the changes...the colors, the holidays, pumpkin everything, cooler weather, a warm cup of coffee or tea, the fashion, and of course football.

Due to transitioning from a hot summer to fall, I like to keep my decoration simple. Just because I go a little more extra for Christmas. Here are some simple fall touches I added to my home that are inexpensive and can be used every year during the Fall.

1. Keeping the porch simple, since I do not have a large front yard and there's only so much I can do.

  • Welcome sigh- Marshalls

  • Wreath- Home Goods

  • Pack of 2, 18" x 18" orange velvet soft solid pillow covers- Amazon

4. The coffee table get used a lot, so adding simple decoration that is festive and functional is a must.

  • Blown glass leaves (set of 3 in different sizes and colors)- Marshalls

5. Added simple floral arrangement and candle to the living room table. It makes the house feel welcoming and smell good.

Hope you found some of my tips, simple and useful when you're ready to decorate your home. However you like to decorate, remember there is no right, wrong, or perfect way. Make your house your haven and favorite place to be of all places.
